My Cup Runs Over
Jesus said, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says, Mark 11:22,2. However, sometimes when God speaks it has limited application, as in animal sacrifices; yet, Psalm 23 is proof of His universal application.
“The Lord is my shepherd and I shall not want”. Psalm 23 was given to David under the old covenant, but Jesus says “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep,” John 10:11.
Yet, there is a litmus test that verifies if you look to Him as your Shepherd. “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free,” John 8:31-32.
As Paul says, whatever state he is in, he has sufficiency in the sufficiency of Christ. It is this relationship that makes me “lie down in green pastures;” and “leads me beside the still waters.” for whatever happens, there is harmony. Even when I walk through the valley and the shadow of death, His rod and staff will comfort me, as I live in line with the word.
Additionally, “my cup runs over,” because it is my bill of right as a child of God.
